Do I need to be an expert baker?
Not at all. If you can mix, knead and braid, you can bake with us. Every bake can include a recipe with clear steps, and many hosts supply everything.
What is hafrashat challah?
It is the mitzvah of separating a small piece of dough when baking with enough flour. Our guide explains the blessing, the amounts and the different customs. Please ask your rabbi which custom you follow.
Do I need forty women?
Not at all. Some women gather forty for a name, as a beloved custom, but it is only a custom. A bake can be two friends in your kitchen or a whole community, so choose whatever group size fits your space.
Is it free?
The site is free to use. Hosts may set a cost to cover ingredients, and many bakes are free. Payments are arranged directly with the host.
How do private bakes work?
A private bake is not listed anywhere. Only women who have the link can see it and join, so share it with the people you want to invite.
When do I get the Zoom link for a virtual bake?
On the morning of the bake. It appears on the bake page for women who joined, and we also email it to you that day.
How is my information used?
Other bakers see your first name, last initial and country flag, and your city only if you allow it. You control this in your profile. Read our privacy policy.
How do I report a problem?
Every bake page has a “Report a problem” link at the bottom. You can also contact us directly.
