About

We believe the best things rise when women gather.

challah bake is a home for women who bake together, in kitchens, shul halls and from afar, in honor of the people they love.

Our story

No woman should separate challah alone.

Separating challah is one of the oldest mitzvot women hold. For generations it happened in kitchens, quietly, one woman at a time. Today it also happens in circles of every size, in shul social halls, and across oceans from kitchen to kitchen.

We built challah bake so that every woman can start a bake for a name she is holding in her heart, or join one that is already filling up. Along the way you will find recipes worth braiding and guides that make the mitzvah feel approachable.

What we care about

Three simple values.

Together

A mitzvah is sweeter shared. Every bake, big or small, is a circle of women.

Intention

We make room for the names and prayers women carry: for healing, for a match, for those we miss.

Welcome

First-timers and experienced bakers, all communities and customs. You belong at this table.

The mitzvah, in two lines

Hafrashat challah is the mitzvah of separating a piece of dough. Many women use that moment to pray for someone they love.
