How challahbake.org handles your information, in plain language.
What we collect
When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture. If you create an account with your email instead, we store your name, email address and a securely scrambled (hashed) password, and we ask you to confirm your address. You then tell us your country and city. If you choose, you can add a profile photo, a Hebrew name and a short bio. When you join or host a bake we store that activity, including any names you ask us to hold in mind.
What other bakers see
On bake pages and the list of women baking, other people see your first name, last initial and country flag. They see your city only if you allow it, and you can choose to appear as an anonymous baker. Your email address is only visible to the host of a bake you join. Names you share to hold in mind are only visible to the host.
Dedications
Hosts may add the names of people they are baking for, which can include people who are ill or who have passed away. These names are shown on the bake page by default. If you would like a name changed or removed, contact us or ask the host and we will act on it promptly.
How we use it
We use your information to run the site: to show bakes, confirm your sign-ups, send reminders and updates about bakes you joined, and keep the community safe. We do not sell your information.
Emails
You will receive confirmations and cancellations for bakes you join. Reminders and host updates can be turned off in your profile.
Your choices
You can edit your profile, change your privacy settings, download your data or delete your account at any time from your dashboard.
Service providers
We use Google for sign-in and a mail service to send email. Candle-lighting times may use an approximate location for your bake's city.
